Dermatologists ran skin cancer screenings for about 75 musicians during the Mile of Music festival.
Dr. Michelle Cihla of Forefront Dermatology says it’s the first time they’ve found melanoma. Rob Stroup of Moody Little Sister had the cancer removed last week.
Cihla thinks musicians are at a higher risk because they often don’t have insurance, and their traveling schedule makes it difficult.
In Stroup’s case, Cihla believes they caught the cancer early enough, but it’s an area he’ll have to watch.
