After a record-breaking fundraising campaign last year, the Oshkosh Area United Way has a new goal of $1.6 million.
The agency launched its fundraising campaign today, with a pep rally at Oshkosh North High School.
Executive Director Mary Ann Dilling says they’re focusing on early childhood development, mental illness, and sustainable jobs. Despite that, 46 percent in Oshkosh can’t meet their basic needs on their own. That’s more than the state average of 43 percent.
Dilling says they have more work to do to make sure children are prepared when they get to school. She says some of them don’t have enough food, and they’re hungry when it’s time to learn.
The agency raised $1.3 million last year.
