The idea of letting people drive golf carts on certain city streets in Appleton might not have enough support.
The city’s public safety and licensing committee is shooting down the proposal unanimously.
Ald. Vered Meltzer doesn’t think the community is ready for it right now. He’s heard from people with concerns about safety issues, with cars and carts on streets at the same time.
The proposal would let people drive golf carts on streets with a speed limit of up to 25 miles an hour.
The city council is expected to make a final decision next Wednesday.
