A state board is denying the Town of Greenville’s request to become a village at least for now.
The town applied for incorporation last year. Town Chair Jack Anderson says instead of trying to incorporate the entire town at once they could move forward with a more urbanized area first. He says the rural areas on the west side of the town were an issue for the state board. Anderson says they’ll look at making changes with boundaries.
The former Town of Menasha became Fox Crossing by incorporating one section and then annexing the rest. Harrison did the same thing nearly five years ago.
The state’s Incorporation Review Board will give Greenville leaders one year to decide whether to reapply.
