Winnebago County’s longtime coroner plans to retire at the end of October.
Barry Busby made the announcement at tonight’s county board meeting. He’s pointing to issues with PTSD, and recent back problems.
Busby says he’s seeking treatment for vivid nightmares and flashbacks after handling cases involving the deaths of children, and drug overdoses.
The board was planning to hold a vote of no confidence in Busby, and decide whether to censure him.
Busby is also facing accusations of sexual harassment.
