Affordable housing is going up in Green Bay.
Ground was broken yesterday on the Broadway Lofts, a $23 million project in Green Bay’s Rail Yard district.
City development director Kevin Vonck says the developer chose to build in the city because of the lack of affordable housing.
To help open up more funding sources for affordable housing the Redevelopment Authority approved closing three of Green Bay’s tax incremental districts.
That would put about three million dollars into a fund to support various affordable housing projects.
The Broadway Lofts is scheduled to open by December of 2020.
Rent will range from $600 to $1,400 for a three bedroom town house.
