People living near railroad tracks in Appleton are excited about the upcoming train whistle ban in the city.
The new quiet zone would cover the main line that cuts across the city.
Appleton West High School student Ellie Breed says she already has a short window to sleep with sports and homework keeping her up late. She says the whistles make it worse.
City leaders expect the whistle ban to take affect in late September or early October. The city made safety upgrades at railroad crossings along that main line.
