A group in Fond du Lac is seeing a lot of success with a community garden.
Salute the Troops set up the Veterans Thrive Garden across the street from its headquarters last September.
Disabled Veteran Joe Ruppenthal says he spends a lot of time there working in the dirt. He says he doesn’t have enough room to grow vegetables at his home, so he was thrilled to hear about the project.
Salute the Troops Executive Director Kim Galske says the garden doesn’t have a fence because it’s for the whole community. She says anyone is welcome to pick any vegetables they need.
