Appleton’s city council wants city staff to put together a formal proposal to make it illegal for minors to have e-cigarettes.
The ban would cover all vaping devices, even if they don’t have nicotine in them.
Ald. Cathy Spears doesn’t want to automatically give teens a ticket. She hopes they can give warnings the first time, and possibly give tickets later.
Spears says she’s heard of problems at schools, with students claiming they can have a vaping device because there isn’t nicotine in it.
The council is expected to vote on the specifics of the ban within the next month.
