It’s not unusual to see weeds growing out of the cracks in the road, but there is a most unusual plant growing along Interstate 41 in Neenah this summer. Three stalks of corn have sprouted out of what appears to be a drain along the median wall on I-41 South at the Winneconne Avenue interchange. Winnebago County Highway Commissioner Ray Palonen (pal-uh-nin) says nature will take root wherever it can. Palonen adds that his work crews have no plans to cut down the corn stalks. In case you are wondering, there are cobs on the corn stalks–but drivers should not try to pick it.
