A Green Bay Republican says he was surprised by Congressman Sean Duffy’s resignation announcement Monday.
Duffy and his wife are expecting a baby in October and he says there are complications including a heart condition.
Congressman Mike Gallagher understands the decision. He says Duffy is a family man, and that will always be his top priority.
Duffy says he’ll step down on September 23rd. He represented Wisconsin’s seventh district for about eight years.
Governor Evers will have to hold a special election to find a replacement.
