The City of Menasha is dropping plans to call three commercial properties “blighted,” but there are still hopes to develop the area.
The Winnegamie Dog Club, a former manufacturing plant, and a storage facility are close to seven city-owned lots by the corner of Manitowoc Road and Oneida Street.
Community Development Director Sam Schroeder says the city’s redevelopment authority made the decision, after concerns from dog club members.
The “blighted” designation is a technical term that can help during a potential redevelopment process. The city did put that designation on the city-owned land.
City council members are also calling the city’s public works building off Plank Road “blighted.”
