Although Styx co-founder Dennis DeYoung is proudly promoting his latest solo album — he can't help but reflect on the global pandemic that now reaches into everyone's backyard.
While chatting about his excellent new solo set titled, 26 East, Vol. 1, which is due out on on April 10th, we got to discussing the situation on the ground in and around DeYoung, who is still based outside of Chicago. In an exclusive interview, DeYoung updated us on the scene near him: “A lot of intercontinental flights were backed up at customs and so, you've got all these people in the Chicagoland area now wanting to go other places who were trapped all with each other for hours upon hours. So, at the moment today, I was able to get food today at my store — there's a lot of stuff they're out of, but they're re-stocking tomorrow. And besides that; y'know, prudent. . . being prudent is the thing to do right now. Nobody's immune from this thing. It doesn't ask where your area code is or your phone number.”
DeYoung went on to send out a heartfelt personal message: “I wish everybody right now, everywhere, y'know, health first, because nothing else matters after that. And after that, I wish them that this thing — this bomb — will not affect them economically in a disastrous way. Y'know, most people are not going to be sick. They're not gonna be touched by this — but (they will by) the economic bomb that it's creating. It's a shame. But, this is the universe, apparently, we've chosen to live in.”
