The Wisconsin National Guard is going to activate more members to run coronavirus tests.
Adjunct General Paul Knapp says they plan to have 25 teams around the state, to deal with demand for community testing sites. He reports getting requests from counties around the state, and he hopes to have the new teams in place in the next 1-1/2 weeks.
Knapp says when they get to 25 teams, about 750 members will be supporting the testing efforts.
So far, the guard has helped collect about 7,500 tests.
In all, about 1,400 soldiers are playing different roles in the state’s response to COVID-19.
