Two of the big music festivals in Oshkosh won’t happen this year.
Country USA and Rock USA organizers say coronavirus is forcing them to cancel.
They say they talked with the Winnebago County Health Department while making the decision. They’re concerned about the health and safety of people at the festival, and in the community.
Amy Albright of Visit Oshkosh says every time they hear about another cancellation, it’s like a punch to the gut for the tourism industry. She believes hotels, restaurants, grocery stores and gas stations are among the places that will be impacted. She says the trickle-down affect is something that people don’t always think about.
Country USA was initially postponed from this month to mid-August.
A post on the websites for both events and on social media is offering credits to people who bought tickets to the 2020 events. Tickets, campsites, VIP seats, and any other item for 2020 will be valid for the 2021 festivals.
There is no mention of whether people can get a refund.
Lifest organizers postponed their event at Sunnyview Expo Center until mid-August.
