Man that ran off with baby following crash placed under arrest

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department arrests a man that ran off with a baby from a minor traffic crash. Jordan Smack is being held on a probation violation, while prosecutors consider other charges. According to investigators, Smack took the four month old girl from a car that ran off the road in Lamartine–sparking an hours-long air and ground search of the surrounding area. It turns out that he had flagged down a passing car shortly after running into the marsh and got a ride to a Fond du Lac house–where he never contacted law enforcement. The person that gave Smack the ride called police after learning about the search.
