There’s a plan in place to spend American Rescue Plan money in Green Bay.
The city is scheduled to receive $23.7 million dollars. The city’s finance committee put together a framework that the council will vote on next week. Alderperson Bill Galvin is on the finance committee. He feels something significant should be done with the money. He believes it should be used to impact the community long-term and not just take care of fiscal holes that have been created by issues in the past.
The committee suggests $6 million dollars go toward affordable housing development and small business support; $2 million for police and crime prevention and $3 million to invest in storm water, climate resilience and green infrastructure.
Mayor Eric Genrich says the framework isn’t binding and the Common Council will have the final say.
