The Oconto County Sheriff’s Department may reopen its investigation into alleged strip searches of students at Suring High School. Sheriff Todd Skarban says District Attorney Edward Burke wants more information on claims made by students that they were forced to disrobe during a search for vaping materials last month. Burke initially announced that based on the initial investigation, the searches did not meet the legal definition of strip searches–and that no criminal charges will be filed. Neither the sheriff nor the DA have stated when they will meet to discuss reopening the investigation and what information they will be looking for.
