APPLETON, Wis. — City officials tell downtown Appleton drivers some changes are coming over the next several years.
That follows increasing complaints about loud traffic and reckless drivers.
Those changes include cracking down on speeders, reckless drivers and vehicles with defective mufflers.
City Traffic Engineer Eric Lom says some design changes on other streets, including adding speed bumps and trees, will help some offenders consider possible risks.
Starting June 1, Appleton will also employ a full-time traffic safety officer to address traffic concerns and the noise from cars.
