There will be recounts in two Winnebago County Board elections. In District 25 incumbent Karen Powers defeated challenger Lydia Lyons 141 to 134. The count was complicated by Powers initially filing a notice of non-candidacy–but then running as a write-in after no one else filed papers. Lyons was also a write-in candidate.
In District 32, Incumbent Robert Zeller is asking for a recount after challenger Shanah Zastera beat him 507 to 499. Both races are within the state limits for a free recount. The Winnebago County Board of Canvass will conduct the recounts on Wednesday.
