WINNECONNE, Wis–A bear is making itself at home in central Winnebago County. On its Facebook page, the sheriff’s department has posted pictures of a black bear that has been spotted in the Winneconne and Omro area over the past week.
The bear has not had any run-ins with humans or pets yet. The department urges people to empty their bird feeders–as that is a common food source for urban bears and not to confront the animal.
This is the time of year that young bears are out looking for new territory and food.
