MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin confirms its first case of monkeypox.
The infected person lives in Dane County and is currently isolating.
The virus can cause rashes and skin lesions, along with a fever, chills and swollen lymph nodes. It does not spread easily from person to person, and health officials say the risk to the general public remains low.
As of Thursday, there have been nearly 400 confirmed cases of monkeypox in the U.S.
