Next month will be the 171st Wisconsin State fair!
New to the fair this year includes some very interesting food options. Some delicious, some…a little out there! Let’s start with the ones I think I’d like the best:
Apple Fries:
“Sliced apples into fries, deep-fried, and coated with sugar and caramel.” Sounds pretty good to me!
Batter-Infused White Cheddar Cheese Curds:
“Different from traditional fried cheese curds, the Batter-Infused White Cheddar Cheese Curds are not a normal beer-battered curd. Served with a side of ranch.” YUP. Sign me up.
Blue Moon Nacho Fiesta Burger:
“Combine a 1/3lb. burger on a toasted bun with nacho fixings like queso cheese, fresh pico de gallo, jalapeños, and tortilla strips for the best of both worlds.” This is gonna hit the spot for sure.
Chicken Bacon Ranch Waffle Stick:
“Juicy white meat chicken baked inside a delicious Belgian waffle. Served on-a-stick, drizzled with ranch dressing, and topped with real bacon!” For some reason, I think this is just gonna work out nicely.
Brandy Old Fashioned Smore-On-A-Stick:
“The Brandy Old Fashioned S’more On-a-Stick upgrades the classic whipped cream bar by infusing the flavors of the Wisconsin brandy old fashioned! Fluffy cream sandwiched between two graham crackers, covered in milk chocolate, and topped with white chocolate, dried orange, and dried cherry.” Literally nothing can go wrong here.
Then we have the new foods for the daredevils of the bunch…
The Bug Apple On-A-Stick:
“This chocolate-covered apple is coated with edible June Bugs, Crickets, Worms, and Ants – all served on-a-stick! You’ll be in a “Fun at the Fair” state of mind when you take a bite out of The Bug Apple.” uhmmm….I guess it’s high in protien?
Arctic Bug Blast Slush:
“A Fair favorite with a new twist…Edible Bugs! This blue raspberry slush is topped with whipped cream and a sprinkling of edible bugs, including a Scorpion. Yes, they are real. Stay Cool, Eat Bugs!” A SCORPION?! I’m not saying I wouldn’t try it…I’m just saying I’d need a few stiff drinks first.
