HOBART, Wis. — The new year will see a new chief at the helm of the Hobart/Lawrence Police Department.
Cpt. Michael Renkas, who was the department’s first police captain, is named chief by the Police Commission. He replaces retiring Chief Randy Bani on Jan. 2.
Renkas is well known in the Fox Valley, having served as an investigator with the Winnebago County Metro Enforcement Group-Drug Unit, a criminal investigator with the Grand Chute Police Department, a member of the Appleton SWAT team, an Emergency Response Team member for Outagamie County and a Field Training Officer for Grand Chute and Appleton.
