The new Sexiest Names list has been updated for 2023… and color me shocked, they aren’t crazy names at all! Yep, seems like gone are the days of giving your kids wacky names like:
- Apple (Gwyneth Paltrow)
- Lyra Antarctica (Ed Sheeran)
- Rosalind Arusha Arkadina Altalune Florence (Uma Thurman)
- Or my personal favorite, X Æ A-12 (Elon Musk).
I didn’t even know you were allowed to put numbers in names, but this opens up a lot of options for me.
Unique names that “stand out” have been becoming quite popular over the years but now it seems that the tide has shifted to more common names. Read: boring. Okay, maybe that’s a little harsh of me, I’m just used to the crazy names. The new list took me by surprise, but then when I think about it, it makes sense.
People having kids in their 30s and 40s seem to be naming their kid’s names they were familiar with growing up from movies, T.V., and pop culture.
Some of the popular names in 2023 are Rachel, popular from the T.V. show Friends, Jack from Titanic, and Sam from Patrick Swayze’s character in Ghost, to name a few.
