Keep your heads on a swivel, fam.
December 11th is the day of reckoning in relationships apparently. In 2008, someone looked through a bunch of Facebook data and found that many people were breaking up on Dec. 11th, which is exactly two weeks before Christmas. The data also showed that Mondays are also common days to break up with your significant other, so today is a perfect storm of sadness.
But why?
Experts chalk it up to all the stress around the holiday season. Shopping, work deadlines, money, travel, etc. Also the stress of bringing your partner around, or meeting, your family.
And, of course, there will be plenty of people breaking up so they don’t have to buy that person a present.
December 6th has been deemed the day closest to Christmas that you can respectfully break up with someone, so if you missed the boat, looks like you’re stuck until after the holidays!
If you do plan on breaking up with your significant other, just make sure you’ve got all your ducks in a row and get all your stuff back. As we all know, the hardest part about breaking up is getting back your stuff.
