Everything’s a fashion show these days, it seems.
It seems Nike, who was tasked with coming up with the new uniforms, or kits, for the Team USA Track & Field Olympians, is facing a little bit of backlash for their new designs. Some folks, athletes included are saying that the new kits don’t leave much to the imagination. Take a look.
I meannnnnnnnn… that’s a lot of crotch!
The comments section is where it really popped off, though. One user wrote, “This mannequin is standing still and everything’s showing… imagine MID FLIGHT 😭” while another commented, “The goddamn swim team gets more coverage than that” and another, “My lady bits hurt just looking at this 💀.”
Many people honestly thought it was a joke, or a late April Fool’s joke, but no. This is, in fact real. However, the chief innovation officer for Nike responded to the backlash and attempted to clarify.
Nearly 50 unique pieces across men’s and women’s and a dozen competition styles fine-tuned for specific events.
So, it appears there will be many different styles and options for the women athletes to wear, like “compression shorts, a crop top or tank and a bodysuit with shorts,” whichever look fits their style the best.
