IT’S HAPPENING PEOPLE.
Katie Schurk and Nick Vitrano will officially join Otis Day on the air starting Monday, June 10th! Only 40 more days to go, but who’s counting?
Since the KISS FM Morning Show was announced on January 3rd, Katie and Nick have been in a non-compete clause, patiently waiting to be back on the airwaves and connecting with the community. In the meantime, Otis has been inviting various guest hosts to fill in for the pair but is really looking forward to the three of them being able to start their show together officially.
“The question I get asked all the time finally has an answer,” Otis said. “I couldn’t be more happy to have my friends back on the air in NE Wisconsin. They’re almost free! This is going to be great!”
Not only have we been counting down the days, but we know all of you, our KISS listeners, have been as well. Thanks to all who participated in our ‘Guess the Date’ contest by submitting your predictions for when Katie and Nick would return to the airwaves, and congratulations to our winner, Amanda Prue from New Franken, who nailed the date and won a 75-inch 4K TV from Atlantic Records! Did you guess correctly? A lot of you were right on or super close, it was fun to see the comments and the guesses come in.
Oh! And by the way, in true Taylor Swift fashion we posted four videos to our Facebook page with hidden easter eggs providing you with hints for what the correct date was. Did you catch any? The first video, in which Reed confessed he had never seen ‘The Sopranos’ before was actually a hint at the date. How, you ask? The series finale of the show first aired on June 10th, 2007. Oh, and the clock in the vehicle was set to 6:10AM. Clever, right?
The second easter egg video was Otis asking Eddie and Reed if they wanted to do a “pal’s night”. The movie options: Wicked, Hamilton, and Man of Steel. June 10, 2003 was the first live performance of Wicked, and Man of Steel first premiered on June 10, 2013. Hehehe.
Otis confessed “how many fast food restaurants he goes to in a day” in the third easter egg video. You didn’t actually think he went to that many places, did you? First, he goes to Panda Express to get egg rolls–National Egg Roll Day is June 10th. Then, he goes to Burger King for the salad with Newman’s Own Dressing, which Burger King began using on June 10, 1990. Third, he gets a black cow from Culvers (if you didn’t know what that was, it’s a root beer float)–National Black Cow Day is June 10th. And lastly, he heads to McDonalds for an iced tea–National Iced Tea Day is also JUNE 10TH! Come on people, we basically screamed the date at you with this one.
In the third and final easter egg video, it starts off with Eddie reading from a Mount Rushmore book. On June 10, 1933, Mount Rushmore became a part of the National Park Service. He also mentioned the Paris Zoo getting a new gorilla. We don’t actually know if they did, but on June 10, 1793 the first public zoo opened in Paris. The Harambe stuff was just funny.
As the date draws nearer, the excitement continues to build. “June 10th cannot come soon enough. Our audience has waited patiently, and patience will pay off.” explained KISS FM Brand Manager Joe Marroe. “The three of them have been working hard behind the scenes the last few months preparing. Day one will sound like the show has been on for years.”
Although they haven’t been able to be on the air, Katie and Nick have continued to stay active in the community; traveling to various school districts to read to students, participating in the ‘Let’s Do Lunch’ competition, helping out Otis behind the scenes, and more.
“KISS FM Mornings is about connecting our local communities together,” said Woodward Community Media General Manager, Kelly Radandt. “Otis, Katie & Nick will help us do that!”
We could not be more excited for the three of them to officially be able to start their show together. Mark your calendars for June 10th!!
