There has been some speculation on whether or not Tay Tay will be featured in the new Deadpool & Wolverine movie. There are a lot of clues pointing to a very real possibility Taylor will be in the movie. However, Entertainment Weekly has “exclusively confirmed” that Taylor will not be in the movie. Here’s why I think they’re wrong.
Let’s start with the Entertainment Weekly quote:
Sorry, Swifties! Despite internet rumors, Taylor Swift will not be dazzling the screen in Deadpool and Wolverine.
The pop superstar behind albums like The Tortured Poets Department and folklore is not in the film, Entertainment Weekly has learned exclusively.
Let’s just back the truck up a second here, mmk?
To recap, Taylor was seen at a Kansas City Chiefs game with Ryan Reynolds AND Hugh Jackman (both main stars of the movie). That could be whatever, since Taylor is friends with Reynolds and BFFs with his wife, Blake Lively. So we don’t have to look far into that one, but it might be interesting.
There was a rumor that Taylor would be playing Dazzler, which honestly makes sense and I think she’d probably do that job well. Dazzler uses sonic waves as weapons and some other stuff, you can read more about her here.
But look at this one movie poster, notice anything?

Friendship bracelets. The exact same kind popular with the Swifties… hmmmm. Let’s look at another movie poster.

The heart hand sign. The same one made uber popular by Taylor Swift and Swifties. Okayyyy…
I mean, that’s a lot of Taylor related things for a very non-Taylor related movie, right? Entertainment Weekly remote,
In an interview in May with Fandango, Reynolds said that “straight up dishonesty isn’t in the cards” when addressing the rumors. “Movies like this, there’s so much speculation about so many people that might end up in the film. I saw one that was convinced Elvis was in the movie,” Reynolds teased. “Anything can happen and that’s sort of what I love about this universe. Surprises are the essence of Deadpool.”
Here’s why I think Taylor Swift will be in the movie. For one, there are FAR too many Taylor Swift references to the movie. If their goal is to use a cheap trick to make people think Taylor will be in the movie to sell some extra tickets, then that’s pathetic and deceiving. And they’re definitely making it look like there’s a chance. I don’t think Ryan Reynolds would do that. Also, Deadpool & Wolverine will be set in the Marvel Multiverse. Meaning quite literally anything can happen. If you’re asking me, Taylor WILL be in the movie in one capacity or another. Whether they end up in a Universe where Taylor is Dazzler, or Taylor is female Deadpool or even a universe where all the superheroes are famous singers doing cameos.
Take it to the bank. Taylor Swift WILL be in this movie.
