GREEN BAY, Wis–The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood EMERGENCY for Waupaca County until 1:15 this (Friday) afternoon. Heavy rain from thunderstorms making their way through the area is causing widespread flooding in the areas of Manawa and Ogdensburg.
Manawa has seen more than four-inches of rain since 8:30 this morning. All entrances to the city have been closed and drivers are urged to find different routes. City officials say Union, North Bridge, and Howard Streets are underwater–as is Industrial Drive. Beech Street has been washed away.
Those staying in campgrounds and at the Mid-Western Rodeo grounds have been evacuated. Emergency shelter is being set up at Manawa High School.
An additional one to two inches could fall in those areas today.

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. *
WHERE…A portion of northeast Wisconsin, including the following counties, western Outagamie and southeastern Waupaca.
* WHEN…Until 230 PM CDT.
* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Overflowing poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… – At 1124 AM CDT, Doppler radar and rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Up to 2 inches of rain have fallen. – Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. – Some locations that will experience flooding include… Appleton, Waupaca, New London, Black Creek, Fremont, Greenville, Dale, Hortonville, Weyauwega, Royalton, Medina, Shiocton, Bear Creek, Nichols, Sugar Bush, Northport, Stephensville, Readfield, Fitzgerald Corners and Wolf River Bottoms Wildlife Area. – http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
