The Green Bay Blizzard opened 2025 with a 2-point loss on the road at the hands of the Quad City Steamwheelers on March 21st. Saturday afternoon in Green Bay, two points was as close as the Steamwheelers would come, and that was before a single second even came off the clock. Kicker Kyle Kaplan’s opening boot sailed through the uprights for “The Deuce,” and the Steamwheelers were off to an early 2-0 start. It was the final time they would lead, and as close as they would come, as the Blizzard dominated all four quarters en route to a 47-25 thumping of the IFL’s last remaining undefeated team.
The victory was a critical tally for the Blizzard who improved to 4-3 and kept pace with the Sharks and the Oilers, also members of the 4-Win Club in the IFL’s Eastern Conference. The Steamwheelers dropped to 6-1, and now find themselves just two games up on Green Bay, and on top of Jacksonville and Tulsa, both 4-2, by just 1 1/2.
Next up: Green Bay takes to the road to battle the Iowa Barnstormers (1-5) on Saturday at 7:05.
