Say “good-bye” to the days of having to disturb your fellow plane passengers when you need to stretch your legs. According to some experts, “vertical seating” is the future of air travel, and it could be coming to an airline near you, as soon as 2026.
Lighter weight and a more effective use of space, this airplane cabin adaptation is being billed as a potential cost saver to all. The airline would be able to increase the number of seats, while decreasing fuel consumption, a formula that should result in lower fares to the traveler, as well. Comfort? Well, that’s another discussion, though comfort is a bit of a subjective notion.
Early safety tests have cleared initial hurdles, clearing the way for implementation, though it should be noted that it’s not yet a done-deal by any means. This will be a slow rollout, if rolled out at all, and for now the plan is to restrict this style of travel to short-haul flights.
Take a look at the “Skyrider 2.0” and decide for yourself if this is something you can get behind, or aboard:
NEW: 'Standing' airplane seats, which can increase passenger capacity by 20%, may be unveiled in 2026, according to the Daily Mail.

Unreal.
The seats force passengers to sit up higher, so Airlines can place the seats closer together.
