The original Broadway cast of the hit musical Hamilton will reunite for a special performance at the 78th Tony Awards on June 8th. The performance will commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the show’s Broadway debut. Over 25 original cast members are set to participate, including Lin-Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr. and Daveed Diggs. (UPI)
John Mulaney made good on his promise to fight three 14-year-old boys on the season finale of Everybody’s Live. No punching or kicking was allowed, so the teens only needed to pin Mulaney to the ground to win. Anthony Boyle will star as Sam Bankman-Fried and Julia Garner will play Caroline Ellison in an 8-episode Netflix limited series about the rise and fall of FTX. The series, titled The Altruists, will explore the story of the two “hyper-smart, ambitious young idealists” who tried to reshape the global financial system, only to end up stealing $8 billion. NBA YoungBoy, sentenced to nearly two years in prison on gun charges, was pardoned by President Trump this week. The pardon means the rapper, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, will not have to serve his probation or undergo drug testing. Gaulden had pleaded guilty to possessing firearms as a convicted felon and was sentenced in 2024. (THR)
Paramount+ has announced that the drama series The Chi will return for an 8th season. This comes after the Season 7 premiere, which reached around 2 million viewers. The Chi is a coming-of-age story centered on a group of residents in Chicago’s South Side. The ensemble cast includes Jacob Latimore, Yolonda Ross, Shamon Brown Jr., and more. (UPI)
Apple TV+ announced that Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz, and Stephen Graham will star in its new series based on the Lars Kepler book series. Schreiber will play Jonah Lynn, a Philadelphia homicide detective who moves to Western Pennsylvania and investigates a serial killer (Graham), with the help of his adopted FBI agent daughter, played by Beetz. S.W.A.T. star David Lim is not thrilled about the upcoming spinoff series, S.W.A.T. Exiles, which will only feature Shemar Moore reprising his role from the original show. Lim feels “brushed aside” by the decision, as he had been a part of the S.W.A.T. cast for the past 8 seasons, pouring his heart into the character of Tan and the camaraderie of the cast. (EW)
