GREEN BAY, Wis–The Brown County Sheriff’s Office offers an explanation for why a K9 unit was taken away from its handler last week. “Dorian” the Belgian Malinois was taken away from Deputy Beau Berger after four years together.
In a statement, Sheriff Todd Delain points out that Berger has taken a job with another law enforcement agency, and wanted to take Dorian with him.

An animal group offered to purchase another dog and pay for its training for the department, but the Sheriff notes that Dorian is the property of Brown County and is not easily replaced. The statement also refutes a claim from the animal group that the dog is in ill health.
