By the looks of it, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin hit the proverbial nail right on the head, as he narrated an awkward “Kiss Cam” moment at the group’s Gillette Stadium concert this week. Cringeworthy, uncomfortable encounters are a hallmark of the jumbotron feature, and this certainly lived up to that billing.
“Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy,” Martin remarked as the camera found a couple who quickly broke their romantic embrace, shielded their faces, and attempted to slink away off camera.

It was a mere 13-second snapshot of Coldplay’s 2+ hour long performance, truly a blink of an eye on the evening as a whole, easily dismissed and forgotten by many in attendance. Unfortunately for the parties involved, the internet never forgets. Doubly unfortunate for the parties involved, they are powerful executives at Astronomer, a lucrative data infrastructure tech firm, and thus easily identifiable on the World Wide Web. Supremely unfortunate for the parties involved, they are married…and not to each other.
Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and Astronomer’s “Chief People Officer” (AKA HR Chief) Kristin Cabot are the principal characters in the unfolding drama. At the moment, neither appear to be commenting, but do they really have to? “Big misunderstanding” appears unlikely.
