OSHKOSH, Wis. — Budget cuts are made in the Oshkosh Area School District.
The school board approves a plan to eliminate more than 40 positions to reduce a $5.5 million structural deficit for the 2026-27 school year.
District officials announced earlier this winter that as many as 70 positions could be cut.
Board member Chris Wright says it wasn’t an easy decision……..
Board member Molly Smiltneek opposed the cuts………
The cuts won’t be enough after next year, as the Oshkosh school district is currently projecting a budget deficit of $2 million for the 2027-28 school year.
