An Appleton man will spend 18-months behind bars for defrauding Social Security. John Fischer is also sentenced in Green Bay Federal Court to three years on supervised release. The 63-year old collected more than 73-thousand dollars in federal and state S-S-I benefits from 2009 to 2017–despite exceeding the income limit. Fischer hid his income and assets from the federal government–shifting some of them into two “churches” he claimed to have founded.
