Appleton Area School District will offer optional masking starting February 28th. The Board of Education voted this morning to allow optional masking. The original masking revision was set to begin last month. Then coronavirus case numbers began rising as the omicron variant spread and optional masking was pushed to February 18th. Board member James Bowman believes conditions are right to make masking optional.
Mandatory masking could return to the Appleton School system if the number of positive COVID-19 cases reaches two-percent of the school population.
