A Lamers Bus driver admits to drinking beer while some Green Bay elementary school students were on a field trip to Madison. The fourth and fifth grade students were from Lincoln Elementary School. One student noticed an open can of beer on the return trip to Green Bay. Teachers contacted the district about the matter. District officials contacted Lamers, which advised teachers to see whether they could detect an odor of alcohol. Those teachers indicated they could not, nor did they witness any impaired driving. Green Bay Police were contacted. The district says the driver admitted to drinking beer earlier in the day while students were involved in activities. The driver’s name has not been released.
