Wisconsin agriculture officials say avian influenza, or bird flu, is now detected in backyard bird flocks in Fond du Lac and Oconto counties.
The Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection says both flocks were euthanized to prevent the spread of the highly contagious flu. That brings the number of infected flocks to nine Wisconsin counties.
This spring, the disease has popped up in other states as well. It’s being called the worst avian flu outbreak in the U.S. since 2015.
