GREEN BAY, Wis–A registered sex offender from Oshkosh is arrested in a sting operation for allegedly attempting to lure a minor for sexual activity. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Kevin Mueller was apprehended as part of “Operation Kick Boxer”.
An indictment says Mueller was exchanging instant messages earlier this month with someone he thought was a 13-year-old that was actually an undercover agent. He was arrested after arriving at a pre-arranged meeting spot in Winnebago County.
Mueller registered as a sex offender after being convicted in 1989 of First Degree Sexual Assault in Milwaukee County. He now faces federal charges of using a computer to attempt to persuade, induce, or entice a minor to engage in unlawful sexual activity.
If convicted, Mueller faces a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years up to life in prison.
