(FOND DU LAC, WI)–A 72-year-old Taycheedah man is charged in Fond du Lac County for making terrorist threats to lawmakers, their families and a Milwaukee-area radio talk show host.
According to a criminal complaint, James Stearns allegedly sent a pair of emails at the end of May. One was directed at a specific lawmaker and his family, after a bill that would allow teachers and school administrators to be armed was introduced. Stearns’ email threatened to “…hunt down (the lawmaker) and his family like animals”, if that bill became law.
An email sent to the Milwaukee-area radio show host has Stearns saying if that bill passes, he, “…will purchase…the most powerful gun (he) can purchase, and go to Madison and shoot as many of the people who for this law as (he) can.” Stearns concludes the email by saying (he is) “…more than willing to go down in a blaze of glory.”
Stearns is being held on $4,000 cash bond with no use of the internet and no possession of dangerous weapons and ammunition. The investigation continues.
