WASHINGTON, DC–Records released by the January 6th Commission show a staffer in Senator Ron Johnson’s office tried to pass a fake slate of electors to Vice President Mike Pence for certification in Congress.
Text messages released by the commission between Johnson’s top aide at the time–Sean Riley–and Pence’s Director of Legislative Affairs Chris Hodgeson show Riley wanted to give Hodgeson the fake slate of electors for Michigan and Wisconsin on January 6th of 2021. Hodgeson replies “Do not give that to him”.
In a series of tweets, Johnson’s current Press Secretary Alexa Henning says the senator had no knowledge of the fake slate and that no such forms were given to the Vice President’s staff.
