Well, well, well… those futuristic 90s movies are finally catching up to us.
Amazon has a new device that allows you to simply scan the palm of your hand to purchase things, verify your age, enter venues, and more. It’s called Amazon One.
Since everyone’s palm is unique to only them, you start by scanning it. Once your palm is scanned you will create a profile that will be directly linked to you. Now you can go ahead and link your banking and credit card info directly to your palm’s profile. Vwalla. Never use cash or a card again.
I know what you’re thinking. It’s probably along the lines of, “Oh, hell no!” or “Big Brother is keeping tabs on us!” However, this is basically the same concept we’ve had for years, only much more simplified and easier. Let me explain.
If you’re worried about being tracked or monitored, just go ahead and throw away your phone and smartwatch now because that’s been happening for a long time. We’re probably all somewhat familiar with Apple Pay and Google Pay. Those two services allow you to scan your phone or smartwatch at the register without having to take out cash or a card, which is basically the exact same thing as Amazon One. Amazon One actually is able to do more to make life easier.
With Amazon One, you pretty much won’t need to carry a wallet. Your I.D. will always be with you, as well as methods of purchasing whatever you need. Forgot your wallet at home? No problem. Lost your wallet? (I have and it sucks) No problem. Getting robbed? Probably a problem but at least you won’t get your wallet stolen.
While I understand that a lot of people will not like this idea, I just want to point out that this is just a more simplified version of Apple & Google Pay.
I’m not a big fan of a cashless society, but the government never listens to me.
