Acting on concerns that the current ownership structure of TikTok poses a threat to national security, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill Wednesday that would ban the social media giant nationwide, unless its China-based owner sells its stake.
President Joe Biden has stated that he will sign the measure if it makes it to his desk, though the bill now moves to the Senate where it is not clear how it will fare. The bill passed through the House fairly easily with a vote of 352-65.
