APPLETON, Wis. — A notable former football player with Wisconsin roots will appear at this year’s U.S. Venture Open.
JJ Watt is announced as the event’s guest of honor.
Watt was a successful defensive lineman with the Wisconsin Badgers and went on to play 12 seasons in the NFL with the Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals. He won the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award in 2017 and helped raise more than $41 million for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.
The U.S. Venture Open is a fundraiser that aims to end poverty in Northeast Wisconsin. This year’s edition is scheduled for Aug. 14.
