It is said that patience is a virtue. By that proverb, the Green Bay Blizzard are as upright as any. In a battle between 7-3 squads, the Blizzard exhibited the composure of a saint, as they exchanged blows with the Visiting Jacksonville Sharks for 30 minutes, before accelerating to a 75-43 win Friday night at the Resch Center in Green Bay.
The back-and-forth affair between the two Eastern Conference powers was tied at 31 apiece early in the third when Max Meylor connected on a 14-yard strike to TJ Davis to put the Blizzard ahead 37-31. The Sharks fumbled the ensuing kick, recovered by the Blizzard, who punched it in from the 2-yard-line less than two minutes later, and the route was on. Green Bay dominated both sides of the ball, outscoring Jacksonville 44-19 down the stretch.
The victory is the team’s fifth straight. Green Bay (8-3) now finds itself all alone in the second slot of the Eastern Conference standings, still just one game behind Quad City (9-2) who dismantled Fishers Freight 45-28 on Saturday. The Blizzard now embarks on an extended 3-game stretch away from home, beginning this Saturday at Fishers Freight (2-9).
