TOWN OF CHESTER, Wis. — The chair of the Chester Town Board is arrested in connection with the death of a golden retriever in Dodge County.
Richard Van Buren is lodged in the Dodge County Jail awaiting an initial appearance on a charge of mistreating animals. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is not releasing any details on what led to Van Buren’s arrest on Thursday.
Deputies were called to a location on Oakwood Road in the town of Chester Tuesday evening after reports of the death of a dog.
The investigation into the dog’s death continues.
The sheriff’s office also called a social media post that a Dodge County board supervisor was at the scene of the incident inaccurate.
