TOWNSHIP OF WAUTOMA, Wis. — The state Department of Justice is investigating a death in Waushara County.
Officers were called to a residence in the township of Wautoma around 5:25 p.m. Thursday on the report of a domestic violence incident.
A male allegedly fired a weapon at a sheriff’s deputy, prompting the deputy to return fire. The suspect then barricaded himself inside the home.
As officers tried to negotiate with him, gunshots were heard, and the suspect was found dead.
No officers were hurt during the incident.
