TOWN OF OAKFIELD, Wis. — A single snowmobile crash in the town of Oakfield sends a Fond du Lac man to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office received a call around 12:45 p.m. Monday of a snowmobile that crashed into a tree near the intersection of County Highway Y and Vielbig Road.
That call came from the snowmobile operator, a 69-year-old Fond du Lac man. He was airlifted to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah for treatment.
The snowmobile operator was wearing a helmet and a chest protector at the time.
An investigation says failure to negotiate a curve was likely caused by speed.
